Biographies

We've started to populate our Biographies page; our effort to document individuals who made a contribution to the community, or are otherwise notable for their achievements, notoriety, or involvement in an event.
When tagging an article, include the name of the individual, professional, and in the case of involvement in an event, the event itself as well as the year in which it occured (i.e., 'events in 1861'). If the individual is a mayor (for example, William Basil Hamilton), include the 'events in' tag for the year in which they were elected.

In the beginning....

Welcome to the Collingwood Wiki Project, a project I've had in mind for awhile.
I've always believed local history is something that should be accessible and actively promoted, not tucked away on a shelf in a locked room.
Of course, this isn't a project for one person; this is something I believe the entire community can contribute toward.
Over the next few weeks, you'll see pages change and be refined, and content added. Some of it will be added by me, but ultimately the goal is to see anyone and everyone with an interest in Collingwood history contribute.
You'll note that a lot of the site guidelines have been adopted from Wikipedia; as this project evolves, I anticipate the community will develop guidelines and policies that are specific to this site's needs.
Feel free to explore - and more importantly, contribute...
